Tips

Make your items shine!

Honesty Merchandising Gal Heather has come up with some cool tips to keep your items the talk of the town.

  1. COLOR ME BEAUTIFUL.
Choose a dark color for your header and a light shade for your background. Make sure that your colors work with your item photos. If you have dark photos, keep your background white for best contrast. You can pick a bright color to outline your feature item photos and really make them POP…try red or yellow!

  2. ORGANIZE WITH CATEGORIES!
Send your buyers directly to what they are looking for with customizable categories! Sell clothing? Try "Dresses," "Pants," "Blouses," and "Formal Wear." Sell toys? Try "Collectible Toys," "Electronics," "Pokemon," and "Barbie."

  3. FEATURED ITEMS DRIVE BIDS!
Put your 4 "specials" at the top of your first page and tell buyers exactly what makes them hot. Phrases like, "No Reserve," "50% Below Retail," "Special Closeout Items," can incite buyers to bid! Be sure to keep your feature section updated! (Keep in mind that featured items in My Gallery are not the same as Featured Items on eBay - there's no extra charge to feature items on My Gallery.)

  4. BRAND YOUR BUSINESS.
Add a logo and website address to My Gallery…use a tagline to describe your area of expertise…shoppers who get to know you are more likely to bid. In fact, you can match My Gallery with the new Honesty Post-Sale! Buyers will know instantly they are dealing with a true professional. In order to make your logo appear correctly on My Gallery it has to be 68x64 pixels and 4K bytes or less. Use PhotoShop or other graphical program to get your logo to the correct size before you upload it into My Gallery. Don't have a logo? Try adding the eBay PowerSeller logo or a photo of yourself.

  5. ENCOURAGE MULTIPLE PURCHASES.
Offer a discount for anyone that buys additional items. Since My Gallery is such an effective way to showcase your items and may even drive increased bidding, be sure to drive your customers to it. You can also encourage multiple purchases in the tagline section of the My Gallery header. Let people know that you value repeat business.

  6. INFORM YOUR PAST CUSTOMERS.
Let past customers know about My Gallery! Cut and paste the link to My Gallery into a newsletter or email to your customers. Don't forget to include special offers in your newsletter that will encourage buyers to click on the My Gallery link and buy, buy, buy!

  7. CREATE A HAPPY UNION.
Buyers love the new "Buy It Now" instant purchase option now offered by eBay. My Gallery will automatically highlight these listings for you.

  8. MAKE YOUR IMAGES JUMP!
Since all your listings will be "on stage" in My Gallery, it's vital that your images be sharp and crisp. Take photos that really jump out. For example, if you're selling a white vase, place it against a dark blue, black or gray background. If you're selling a black Volvo station wagon, place it against a background of green shrubbery. Don't make the buyers squint to see your items! Zoom in to make sure your item fills the space and catches their attention. Buyers will reward you by clicking through to the ad and bidding.
