To upload a picture from a WebTV unit to Honesty.com, you first need two very important pieces of equipment:
- WebTV Plus Unit
- Standard Video Camera
Only the WebTV Plus models are able to send pictures to Honesty, because they are the only models with a video in jack on them. The video cameras that will work are regular VHS, 8mm, Hi8, or digital video (not to be confused with a digital camera that computers use) cameras with a composite video out. This plug is usually yellow, and the cable needed has ends that look like those of a stereo system.
Ok, with all the technical specifications out of the way (boring!), here's how everything should be hooked up. The video out of the video camera needs to be plugged in to the yellow video in jack on the back of your WebTV Plus. Then, using either the cable jack, or the composite video out, connect the WebTV to your TV (but if you're reading this, then you must have already done that).
Alright, once everything is set up properly, connect to the Internet and come to Honesty's Add WebTV Image page. Move through the page until the blue video camera icon is selected, as pictured below.
Once you have the yellow selection around the camera icon, press enter. A new window opens up that allows you to see what the video camera is seeing. If you don't see anything, double check that you have hooked everything up correctly and that your video camera is on (and the lens cap is off). For this example, I've decided to sell a keychain. Since my item is small, I've simply held it up to the video camera, and adjusted the camera's focus. If you have a larger item, just move and zoom the camera until you have a nice shot. By clicking the on-screen "Freeze" button, you can freeze the picture on the screen. If you decide that you don't like that picture, just click "Freeze" again and the picture will unfreeze. Once you've frozen a picture that you like, click the "Add Picture" button.
After clicking "Add Picture", you are taken back to the Add WebTV Image page on Honesty. The next thing to do is to choose the folder that you want this picture uploaded to. You can create new folders on the Manage Images page. If you haven't set up any folders yet, just upload it to "MAIN", and you'll be able to move it later. After you've selected the folder, give the picture a name. In this example I've named my picture "keychain". Later, when I list this item, I'll recognize the name and choose the right picture.
Once the picture is named, click the "Upload Image" button, and your picture will be sent to Honesty.com! After you've uploaded your pictures, you might want to read the Managing Images section of our Adding and Managing Images Walk-through. The Adding Images section of the walk-through refers to uploading a picture from a computer.
